When F(X) officially debut back 2009, I fucked wit them. As time passed, and the way the K-Pop industry works, with the influx of boy and girl bands that would follow. F(X) sort of faded into the background.
But I’ve always liked them as a unit. Most groups, I fancy, I tend to like them as a complete unit. It takes a really special person grab my attention enough for me to claim that I like them.(Separately) I’m not an easily swayed person. This was same for F(X) and many other of my favs like Big Bang, 2NE1, TVXQ ( JYJ included). I love Jay Park and he wasn’t even my favorite member back in his 2PM days.
But that’s a story for another day.
Up until recently, I never really understood people’s fascination with Amber. I imagined that her boyish good looks had a lot to do with it because of the fact that it made her stand out from other female idols. Instead of the pretty-hyper sexualized image or the cutesy school girl look, that is common within this industry, she was neither. I can see how that might be refreshing. She definitely has some flavor when it comes to dressing but like I said, I never really paid sis any mind. Up until I heard Beautiful back in 2015.
Then I watched the Music Video. And I’m like, okay this is tough. This is something I can relate too on a personal level. Positive reinforcement and knowing your worth regardless what people say is so very important. This is something we strive to make known with SDE on a daily basis. On the other hand, vocally this is smooth which made it something that I kept in rotation. Then Borders dropped.
This was another song that I fucked with heavy. It made my list for Favorite Korean Songs on 2016. This was another song that I could relate too. Her rapping was basic in terms of bars but it was filled with emotion. That is something that I can appreciate. To be fair, lyricism is a different beast in American than it is in Korea. Keeping this in mind, this would probably rank higher on rapper scale in K-pop scape. SM isn’t known for having talented or organic rappers but I digress. Amber did a thing, point blank period.
Then I stumbled upon, Need to Feel Needed.
I cannot stress how hard, I think this song is. She’s giving you vocals, and rap-talking, over a disco influenced beat. The Young Llama is bearing her Soul. Check it out for yourself and let me know what you think? This another one that’s been on constant replay for the past couple of months. This leads us too On My Own.
This was another song, that hit close to home. I like both the Korean and English version but I prefer the English version which is odd because it’s usually the other way around. I tend to attach myself to the version I hear first.
Now I’m Sold. Amber is a force to be reckoned with, she got them vocals, she can spit(in her own lane) and she has the pen game. I’m looking forward to hearing more music. SM needs to get it together and show her some love but to be honest. I think she’s going to dip out when the opportunity becomes available.
They have shown time and time again, that they don’t really rock with her.
Amber is definitely the truth.
