ERASED 僕だけがいない街 (Review)

ERASED also known as Boku dake ga inai Machi 僕だけがいない街 is a fantasy/ psychological thriller written and illustrated by Kei Sanbe.  This is a very interesting story. ERASED takes many twists and turns. You will never know what will occur next.

Satoru Fujinuma, one the main protagonist,  possesses a unique ability that allows him to travel back in time. Mere moments before a tragic incident that occurred in his past. Satoru returns home one evening, to find his mother murdered by a mysterious assailant.

Satoru sees a blue butterfly and reverses time back to the year 1988, he was 11 years old back then and still in elementary school. Satoru learns he must stop the death of two of his classmates and a girl who attends a nearby school in order to change his fate.

Erased is a sad anime but, a really good one at that. One minute it will have you rooting for the main character and next on the edge of your seat. This story line is great. If you are a fan of psychological thrillers, this is a show for you.  The run-time for this anime is only twelve episodes long,  I hope there will be a second season.

But, the big takeaway for me, is if you see someone hurting, act on it before it’s too late.

Satoru’ s friend Kyo was being abused by her evil mother, who if was real, I would beat the hell out of her. The first time around Satoru did not say anything and she died. It is always important to speak up and say something, it could save a life.
