Fullmetal Alchemist Live Action Premiere – Anime NYC 2017

The live action of Fullmetal Alchemists made it’s US debut at Anime NYC and you had to purchase $10 tickets to see it and I must say I really liked the movie, it all was just a summary of everything that happens in FullMetal Alchemist with a twist. The movie will officially be released on December 1st, 2017. The wonderful thing about this movie is that the ENTIRE cast is Japanese and it was amazing to actually see it play out this way, I honestly wouldn’t want to see a Hollywood adaptions because this was just perfect as is.

The Director Fumihiko Sori was at the premiere to formally introduce the film for its US debut. You may know most of the films Fumihiko Sori has done, one of my favorites is Ichi, Vexille and Dragon Age: Dawn of the seeker. I also love Appleseed even though Fumihiko is a producer it was one of the first films I saw his name on and made me look further into some of his work and that’s when I ran into Ichi and Vexille after re-watching the film sometime in 2010.

I usually re-watch anime series if I haven’t seen it in a while and Fullmetal Alchemist is one of the anime I will not re-watch often because I get tired re-watching one of the most lovable characters Captain Maes Hughes dies. I definitely can’t take watching Nina and Alexander become a chimera again. This movie does make you relive those horrible moments and I really was tearing up at these moments because I hate seeing this all over again. I almost let a tear out seeing the Chimera because the CGI in this movie was amazing like I didn’t think it would look so realistic that it really hurt my core seeing it and it was the moment I almost cried because Nina and Alexander were real and with the little screen time they had I really didn’t want to see this cute kid and her beautiful white dog become this beast. Below is a screenshot from the trailer of the movie you can watch here.

After the movie, Fumihiko Sori came back on stage to answer a few questions. The movie overall had a lot of CGI work when you first see Al you’ll be amazed at how far computer graphics have come along because Al was the best thing about the film and Fumihiko did say that they spent most of their budget for the movie on CGI and it was worth it. Fumihiko did ask the audience if they would watch another Fullmetal Alchemist movie from him and everyone cheered so there might be another Fullmetal movie under his sleeve but only time will tell.

When the movie is released we’ll let everyone know on twitter so you can see for yourself.
