Continuing the Black Panther trend with Nakia played by Lupita N’yongo. Nakia in the Black Panther movie is the love interest of T’Challa/Black Panther/King of Wakanda, I was extremely excited to see that Nakia was cast as a Dark Skin Black women (you know how Hollywood works) and it felt so good to finally see a positive image of dark skin Black Women for a change that I still can’t contain my joy.
I chose Nakia because she was the King’s love and because she was badass all around I can’t even say she was just some damsel in distress which is another thing I loved seeing in this movie that she didn’t have to be in distress she could handle her own and still get the man. Nakia is a spy trying to help the world as much as she can and make sure people that are in oppressed or dangerous situations are liberated and free as Wakandans are in her home country.
Nakia had one goal and that was to free the entire world and help others outside of Wakanda live freely. Nakia alone is an inspiration to activist all over the world because not only does she go on missions to save black people from danger within Africa but all across the world. Nakia shows motivation to keep pushing until change happens, by the end of the movie she convinced T’Challa to branch out and help others in need since Wakanda can do so with its resources.
Nakia is going to be a great role model for young girls and women to take pride in yourself and if you want to learn a new skill or language go and do it, if you want to advocate for change on issues that are important to you become an activist and make those changes by getting involved with politics. I got a lot from watching Nakia in this film and it has inspired me to pick up learning more of the Spanish language and I hope Nakia has inspired you to want to do something you always wanted to do so you can become a better version of yourself.
