The Rock has yet another action blockbuster under his belt and it’s a movie about characters from one of our favorite childhood video game Rampage. I got the chance to see a advance screening of the movie earlier this week with Alice and have to say it was a short movie but the action picked up quicker than I thought. Although I have some mixed feelings about the movie not giving the other characters from the game more screentime I did enjoy the movie because of the characters and their witty banter with eachother.
Konata is one of my favorite characters ever and I’ve mentioned her a few times in past posts. This young lady is my day 29 choice because she’s goofy and lazy, I don’t see many characters like her in movies or anime so it’d be a good start for many to take note that having someone many women can relate to since were all interested in different things.
Sailor Jupiter (Makoto Kino)
Sailor Jupiter from the hit anime series Sailor Moon is probably one of my earliest girl crushes since Sailor Moon was one of the first shows I watched that introduced me to anime. Makoto Kino (Lita Kina in the English adaption) is her name and she’s my favorite sailor scout. I liked Makoto first because she was the green scout and green is my favorite color then as I watched the show and saw what powers she inherited as a Sailor Scout, I liked her even more since she was the “muscle” one of the group. Makoto powers are Electrokinesis, Phytokinesis, Expert martial artist, Superhuman strength, speed, and agility.
Vixen is one of my favorite DC Superheroines in the DCU, I really love her powers. Being able to embody the strength and abilities of an animal is one of the most underrated powers. Vixen gets her powers from The Tantu Totem, A fox-shaped talisman created by the African trickster god Anansi the spider. Vixen the first African Female DC superhero back in 1978 to get her own comic series but it was sadly canceled before release but even though Vixen never got the chance to shine in her own series until Vixen: Return of the Lion in 2008. Continuing the Black Panther trend with Nakia played by Lupita N’yongo. Nakia in the Black Panther movie is the love interest of T’Challa/Black Panther/King of Wakanda, I was extremely excited to see that Nakia was cast as a Dark Skin Black women (you know how Hollywood works) and it felt so good to finally see a positive image of dark skin Black Women for a change that I still can’t contain my joy. Shuri is another character that I loved in Black Panther comics and The Marvel movie. Letitia Wright did this character justice, Shuri is my favorite because of her personality and how she’s kept the sibling relationship strong and fun with T’Challa. Their relationship aspect is so beautiful in the movie that I really applaud Shuri for keeping up her adorable personality after losing her father.
The one and only Danai Gurira play as Okoye in Black Panther, This will be about Okoye as much as possible because of the love I have for the character before the movie. Danai’s performance was so amazing bringing Okoye to life that at this point I don’t think I’ll ever become tired of seeing her beautiful face everywhere. Continue reading
