#31daysofWomeninMedia – Day 17

Shuri is another character that I loved in Black Panther comics and The Marvel movie. Letitia Wright did this character justice, Shuri is my favorite because of her personality and how she’s kept the sibling relationship strong and fun with T’Challa. Their relationship aspect is so beautiful in the movie that I really applaud Shuri for keeping up her adorable personality after losing her father.

The one and only Danai Gurira play as Okoye in Black Panther, This will be about Okoye as much as possible because of the love I have for the character before the movie. Danai’s performance was so amazing bringing Okoye to life that at this point I don’t think I’ll ever become tired of seeing her beautiful face everywhere. Continue reading

Mikasa Ackerman makes it next on my list. She is well known from the anime Attack On Titan. Mikasa is a badass and a woman not to be trifield with. She is known as the vest soldier among the 104th Training Corps. She later on in the series joins the Survey Corps to protect her adoptive brother Eren.

Viola Davis for Porter Edit Magazine

Viola Davis has always been an inspiration to me and nothing short of amazing. Viola is a successful woman in the entertainment world, her acting has been some of the most incredible performances we’ve seen in some time and she’s vocal in her activism about equal pay and women’s rights which made me put her on a pedestal I can’t seem to take her off of.

#31DaysofWomeninMedia: Day 9

My day 9 nomination goes to Michiko Malandro of Michiko & Hatchin.  Michiko is not by any means a tradition pick. If anything, she’s the polar opposite of what most would like to highlight.  She’s a criminal with a serious rap sheet. Violent. Foul-mouthed. Miss Malandro is literally a walking stereotype for Black and Latina women.  So why her?  Continue reading

Princess Mononoke

Princess Mononoke is a very decorated Studio Ghibli film. This is one of my favorite Miyazaki films. Princess Mononoke translates to Spirit/Monster Princess, San is adopted and raised by wolves in a big beautiful forest protecting The Forest Spirit. San is one of the main characters this film showcases and there are some rumors in the film about how she got to become the Monster Princess but in all reality, The Wolf Goddess Moro took San in when her parents left her there to die and raised her as her own.

San in her own right earned her place amung the Wolf Pack and just like her family she hated humans because all they could do was destroy. After fighting for so long to protect the forest
