Dezzy Yates: Journey to Phresh

Dezzy Yates 6

My First Introduction to Dezzy Yates was a few years ago, through some mutual friends.  Even back them I was impressed.  Fast forward years later, his style is more refined and the focus is that much clearly.

When I reached out to him for an interview. Here’s what he had to say.

Representation Matters

clouds_

I’ve been a fan of Anime, comic books, and video games for as long as I can remember.  For me, growing up around mostly Black and Latin peoples nerd related things were a foreign concept. So when I dabbled in these mediums the idea of equal representation never crossed my mind until I became an adult.

I’ve been following Sage for about 5 years now.  While his style as changed so much over the years. He never fails to disappoint. Whether it be, though showing his prowess as an emcee. The smooth styling of self-composed beats or his quirky visuals.  And sometimes, it’s all of the above.

I finally got to watch the famous and most talked about show Yuri On Ice. I really enjoyed this anime. This anime really gave me a idea about the world of Ice Skating. I was not really interested in ice skating  until I saw this anime which is interesting for me. I only learned about Ice Skating by watching this anime. I really enjoyed watching them perform and tell a story though their performance on stage. I really got an inside of what the Ice Skating world was like.

Anime & Music: For the Love of OST

1elhty

It’s common amongst anime bloggers and or fans to critic a series storyline.  Character design, animation and things of that nature.  But when was the last time, you’ve seen someone address the OST? OST meaning Original Soundtrack. It’s a such a crucial part of the process.  These songs  can make or break a project in the same way the script and pacing does. The soundtrack effect the story progression just as much as other elements more commonly discussed. it’s sort of eerie that we as times ignore this completely.

13010-2

New York Comic Con was lite. The team and I had a phenomenal time.  Saw a former Co-worker/friend. Bump into a few other acquaintances. And even brought my baby cousin along for his first convention.  The little guy fell asleep when we sat down to eat lunch on Sunday. Hysterical. He’s not built for the blerd life.  But let’s get right into it.

Day 30: Anime You Wished Never Ended

banner_1440

Day 30: An Anime you wished Never ended and continued on?

Does this literally mean never ended? Or more so an anime that ended before It really should have. If not, I can’t think of any . The anime I love, I love them because of the sense of closure I receive from them.  The entire span made them somewhat timeless for me.

An anime I feel should have never ended. I can think of a ton but my choice is Air Gear.
