Morning Musume is one of Japan’s biggest idol groups and they still are! Producer Tsunku started the group in 1997 and they are still making music and are as popular as they were when they first debut with more members.
Morning Musume has broken so many records on the Oricon charts. They continue to top their past successes and I’m looking forward to seeing Morning Musume, 18 in concert this weekend.

This weekend is Anime NYC 2018, the second year of Anime NYC and it’s going to be jammed packed with so many amazing guests. Many of the guests are from Japan and that’s what I really like about AnimeNYC, no other convention has a guest list full of the very people who worked on the original projects for the shows we love. This is probably the 1000th post about this topic that has appeared on the internet. I have big issues with what Pixar, a branch of Disney has done with Tiana, our favorite and only Black Princess. Colorism and whitewashing is always a controversial topic because so many people feel offended on both sides. Colorism in itself is a conversation a lot of people are not ready to have because they don’t want to face the reality and the history that makes up our media and society today.
Last weekend was NYCC and AFNYCC (Anime Fest), So that’s 2 cons in one weekend and Alice was the braveheart to go to both from Thursday – Sunday. New York Comic Con wanted to bring back Anime Fest and they did. Lizzo and I only did 1 day at NYCC, we didn’t want to go for an extra day because we both felt like NYCC was becoming too commercial. We usually don’t always agree but that was one that we did and all three of us might not go to NYCC next year because it’s too expensive to buy single passes!
Alice has a few posts about NYCC and AFNYCC coming out this week, it felt like we took a week off last week but work and other things caught up with us because we’ve been putting in so much work with SDE other parts of our lives were getting jealous lol. We enjoy going to conventions to see and meet new people as well as hang with friends but NYCC will most likely not be on our list of cons next year because we do miss the weekend bundle pass and it’s much cheaper to hit the other cons that are just as fun.
Our next convention will be Anime NYC and we’ll be doing press coverage there and we’re super excited about it. Hopefully, Anime NYC fixed their security issues from last year but regardless I will be carrying a smaller camera bag just in case they haven’t. If you don’t remember last years’ Anime NYC or didn’t get the chance to go here’s last year’s Anime NYC Overview.
This is week 13 of our Spotify Playlist and as usual, we hope to be your music plug and introduce you to new artists and new favorite songs.
WHEW! It’s been a busy couple of weeks for us but we made it through and got our content out and now we’re going to start up early for our press coverage of AnimeNYC in November. This will be the last con of the year for us and we’ll start gearing up for 2019. Continue reading →
Niic (Pronounced “Nice”) The Singing Dog is exactly what his name says and I didn’t think it was going to be literal when I walked into the panel area. Kyle McCarthy is the voice behind the singing dog, such a good voice for the indie-pop music he creates. I’m happy I didn’t look up Niic prior to going into his performance, having that mystery about a performer you’ve haven’t heard of yet is always fun. After the performance I walked out a fan, Niic has a good voice and the vibrant green color of the suit is really pleasing to the eyes. I honestly enjoyed the show even more once he started singing covers of some classic 90s songs and the Teen Titans theme song. Continue reading →
