With all the excitement surrounding Black Panther which is debuting in theaters this weekend, it feels like we’ve been waiting forever for a black superhero movie. Now that it’s finally happening especially during black history month I don’t know if next year can top it. Black people as a whole have been lighting up social media about Black Panther since his MCU appearance in Captain America: Civil War. Twitter has started a storm and were all here for it, This is the week the hashtag #BlackPantherweek and #BlackPanthersolit is really active and people are out here living their best life waiting for the weekend. We’ve been blessed again with another gift and that is The Black Panther Album. The album had high anticipation since it was announced that Kendrick Lamar was producing it with Anthony Tiffith. I have to say this album really did meet expectations after listening to it a few times. With the growing momentum around the Black Panther movie, I’m pretty sure there is going to be negative reactions towards this album because of the artists on the album but overall it turned out better than I expected it to. The album has great replay value and introduced me to a few new artists I’ve never heard before. Continue reading →
Finally, we get to see another black superhero come off the pages. Black Lighting is the latest DC superhero to bless the TV waves, even though there has been little to no promo of the premiere of this show on The CW the internet will not let you forget that there’s another black superhero we need to support. I haven’t seen much of any promo for this series until about last week on my way home I noticed a Subway advertisement finally showing Black Lighting. If you’re new to Black Lighting don’t feel bad about it because I discovered Black Lightning about 3 years ago while looking for more black superheroes, I’m happy to see this character come to life because when I found him I then started reading up on comics he appeared in and started falling in love with the backstory since it’s really relatable to the average city life minus the superpowers.
I haven’t been doing much writing as of late but I’ve made a point to stay on top of my blog reading. And if I can, like and comment more because I’m really bad with that. I’m strolling through my feed and find a post labelled: The Comic Vault Is Nominated For A Second Mystery Blogger Award. Out of curiosity, I click it, read through and what do you know I was also nominated.
First off, Thank you Jamie. Aside from the fact that I comment somewhat often, it never occurred to me that our blog was even on your radar. So major shout out to you. I really enjoy reading your posts. This means a lot to me. Secondly, If you’re a fan of Marvel or DC Comics. You’ll definitely want to check him out on The Comic Vault. F.Y.I he does a pretty awesome Red Hood Cosplay.
We’ve made it another year! This year has been one of our best years with all the content we were able to get out and all the adventures we had at every convention we were able to attend thru out the year. Our year was full of fun, hard work and we’re happy to welcome a new year with all of you.
I wanted to start this off by saying if you look at reviews before going to a movie don’t look at Jumanji’s reviews because all their going to do is compare it to the original movie and that’s not fair for this remake. This movie is the reimagined Jumanji as a video game console which is what as gamers we flock to consoles, no one plays board games anymore.
It’s been a while since Lizzo did her 3 Anime Character Tag. I’m finally getting around to this challenge. The three characters I believe is a reflection of myself is Konata (Lucky Star), Osaka (Azumanga Daioh) and Kiri Koshiba (Beauty Pop)
Challenge: Pick three anime characters that remind you of yourself and tag people to participate. For the sake of the post, I will elaborate on why these characters are reflective of my personality.
The live action of Fullmetal Alchemists made it’s US debut at Anime NYC and you had to purchase $10 tickets to see it and I must say I really liked the movie, it all was just a summary of everything that happens in FullMetal Alchemist with a twist. The movie will officially be released on December 1st, 2017. The wonderful thing about this movie is that the ENTIREcast is Japanese and it was amazing to actually see it play out this way, I honestly wouldn’t want to see a Hollywood adaptions because this was just perfect as is.
Anime NYC was this past weekend and first, we want to give a huge shoutout to Anime Girls NYC. Meeting Stephanie was awesome since we talk back and forth on WordPress often, we actually unknowingly met at the checkpoint as I was complaining about taking off my backpack again to get in on the show floor after coming from the Artist Alley and she turned around and agreed. It was a funny first meeting before we met on the show floor and officially introduced ourselves to each other. Check out her blog and her review of Anime NYC here.
