Sup, today I was able to see Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse and it was amazing. Expect a review for that soon but I this got me thinking. There are quite a few movies that I’m looking forward to in 2019. Here is five live-action movie adaptation that I’m looking forward too.
My favorite superhero is the one and only Hawkgirl. I was first introduced to Hawkgirl in Justice League animated series. I adore her, because of her strong personality and confidence. The way she was portrayed on this animated show made me look into the comics she was featured in. Looking for Hawkgirl features in comics started my love for comics and it made me start reading them more often.
I’m late with it but I’ve seen the announcement and still didn’t take 5 mins to watch the trailer. I’ve been looking forward to seeing if DC would redeem the DCU movies. The way I feel about DCU movies is a whole other topic but I’m looking forward to Aquaman because of Jason Momoa.
This man has embodied Aquaman since taking on this role in the Batman v Superman movie. I like Jason Momoa as a person too so I’m really rooting for this movie to be great.
While I sat in the Dante Buford panel, I met Matthew Bordenave who is a Storyboard artist and up next was his panel. He was very funny and had a great stage presence. I really got to enjoy this panel and had a lot of fun. I was interested in learning about storyboarding because it is part of what makes an animation, this is one of the many jobs that brings an animation to life. With everyone’s hard work, everything comes together into the animation we see. I originally sat in this panel because I was curious about what the panel would be about, I was able to learn a lot about the behind-the-scenes in developing an animation. Continue reading
Vixen is one of my favorite DC Superheroines in the DCU, I really love her powers. Being able to embody the strength and abilities of an animal is one of the most underrated powers. Vixen gets her powers from The Tantu Totem, A fox-shaped talisman created by the African trickster god Anansi the spider. Vixen the first African Female DC superhero back in 1978 to get her own comic series but it was sadly canceled before release but even though Vixen never got the chance to shine in her own series until Vixen: Return of the Lion in 2008. The glorious Hawkgirl is one of my favorite Superheroes from DC Comics and I continue to put her on this pedestal ever since Justice League animated series was on in the early 2000s. Hawkgirl’s personality is probably one of the main reasons I really love her, She’s such a strong character that she will never let anyone walk over her or disrespect her without meeting her electrified mase to the face.
Finally, we get to see another black superhero come off the pages. Black Lighting is the latest DC superhero to bless the TV waves, even though there has been little to no promo of the premiere of this show on The CW the internet will not let you forget that there’s another black superhero we need to support. I haven’t seen much of any promo for this series until about last week on my way home I noticed a Subway advertisement finally showing Black Lighting. If you’re new to Black Lighting don’t feel bad about it because I discovered Black Lightning about 3 years ago while looking for more black superheroes, I’m happy to see this character come to life because when I found him I then started reading up on comics he appeared in and started falling in love with the backstory since it’s really relatable to the average city life minus the superpowers.
