This year I went into a panel that discussed the different Japanese styles that we can also see in the anime shows that we watch or, what people actually wear in Japan. It was reiterated that these styles are not to be confused with cosplay. The panel was moderated by Creep-P. It was a very interesting and educational panel. Many people confuse some of the styles with cosplay. There are several different style trends in Japan such as Dekora, Gyaru, Shironuri, Mori, Ishokuada, Visual Kei, Lolita, Manhera, and many more. Each style has its own uniqueness. The styles were created to break the social norm and allow people to be more free to express themselves.
Last weekend was LCAC 2018 and it was a blast! This year we’ve met some new people as well as seeing some new musicians perform. We were given the opportunity to do press coverage again this year and with that, we have a lot of footage and photos to sort through. This year LCAC, in my opinion, was a little lacking compared to the year before. Yes, the con was fun but it didn’t live up to being better than the year before. I really hope LCAC 2019 will pick up the ball next year and be an even better con than this year.
On Saturday, we attended TiA and Kohei joint concert at Liberty City Anime Convention. TiA and Kohei are Japanese recording artist who currently resides in New York City.
This year at Liberty City Anime Convention (LCAC) everyone discovered that this was the last year and final performance of the band 2une. This was my first time listening to the band because in the previous years I was never able to make it in time to see the band perform. 2une has been performing together for three years at LCAC and had many great performances. This year for their final show 2une’s Sneko and Uno had a combined performance together with Ari.Ki (Ari and Ki). Ari.Ki are twin dancers that perform their own choreography, I really enjoyed listening to the band and watching the dance performances. Continue reading
This year J-MUSIC Ensemble performs at LCAC again! We loved their performance the last 2 years and they’ll be gracing the main stage again. The live music they provide is one of the best qualities to their performances as well as the renditions anime and game theme songs we’ve grown up on. The nostalgia makes me love seeing J-MUSIC Ensemble perform. J-MUSIC Ensemble hits the stage Sunday, August 19th at 2:30pm, the last music performance right before the closing ceremony. The past two years of LCAC we have seen Reni Reni and this year she comes back to LCAC. Reni’s music is so energizing I can see why she would be a fan favorite because she is one of the only acts I’ve seen that actually go into the audience and interact. The past performances we’ve caught will be below but this post was written by Lizzo for our 2016 press coverage of LCAC and Reni’s performance. Reni is set to perform at LCAC 2018 Sunday, August 19 at 11am, be sure to catch her performance if you’re at LCAC this weekend. I’ll also link a few videos of her music and performances. In 2016 I covered 2une at LCAC and it was such a great performance and we also saw them perform last year. 2une has been together for 3 years now and Sneko and Uno seem to still be going strong even though they haven’t uploaded any new music in a while their songs are still catchy. They were so cute during their performances so this year because they are switching it up by performing with Ari.Ki. The performance is on Friday, August 17 at 1:30pm in the main event area.
