Niic (Pronounced “Nice”) The Singing Dog is exactly what his name says and I didn’t think it was going to be literal when I walked into the panel area. Kyle McCarthy is the voice behind the singing dog, such a good voice for the indie-pop music he creates. I’m happy I didn’t look up Niic prior to going into his performance, having that mystery about a performer you’ve haven’t heard of yet is always fun. After the performance I walked out a fan, Niic has a good voice and the vibrant green color of the suit is really pleasing to the eyes. I honestly enjoyed the show even more once he started singing covers of some classic 90s songs and the Teen Titans theme song. Continue reading →
Sys2matik Ovrl0ad is one of the bands I mentioned in my post about the J1-Con: Music Fest and I have to say they did not come to disappoint. Sys2matik Ovrl0ad had a great set to sit through and they were in pretty good spirits when it was such a small crowd that I wish more people would have come to enjoy the performance.
the Blackfinity Gauntlet Podcasting Summit spanned over two days of the con. The Expo was hosted in The Bourbon Room, formerly known as the House of Blues which is located on the Second Floor of The Showboat Hotel. The House of Blues is an iconic venue, so being able to take in an event in such a historical place made it that much more memorable and the energy was definitely in the air.
This past weekend we were able to do press coverage for J1-Con in Atlantic City, NJ. The con was held at the Showboat Hotel which had more than enough space, this was my first time at the Showboat, J1-Con and I was blown away at how big this hotel was and seeing the usage of the venue space. The Bourbon Room was nothing but amazing it blew my mind learning about the history involving past performances as well as the J1-Con events held there.
This weekend at J1-Con we will be hitting the music fest on Saturday to see the 4 music performances lined up. The acts set to perform are Sys2matik Ovrl0ad, Andrea M, Rachael Rota and Reef of Law 27. I’ve never heard any of their music prior to writing this post and I have to say it is a mixed bunch and it’s a mix of music that everyone can enjoy. The performances will be held in The Bourbon Room in The ShowBoat Hotel in Atlantic City, this will be my first time at the ShowBoat hotel and The Bourbon Room and the setup with the seats and stage looks amazing. This venue is attached to the hotel which is a bonus and just from looking at the photo it looks like music sounds great in here, I’m excited to see everyone perform at this venue.
Last weekend was LCAC 2018 and it was a blast! This year we’ve met some new people as well as seeing some new musicians perform. We were given the opportunity to do press coverage again this year and with that, we have a lot of footage and photos to sort through. This year LCAC, in my opinion, was a little lacking compared to the year before. Yes, the con was fun but it didn’t live up to being better than the year before. I really hope LCAC 2019 will pick up the ball next year and be an even better con than this year.
This year at Liberty City Anime Convention (LCAC) everyone discovered that this was the last year and final performance of the band 2une. This was my first time listening to the band because in the previous years I was never able to make it in time to see the band perform. 2une has been performing together for three years at LCAC and had many great performances. This year for their final show 2une’s Sneko and Uno had a combined performance together with Ari.Ki (Ari and Ki). Ari.Ki are twin dancers that perform their own choreography, I really enjoyed listening to the band and watching the dance performances. Continue reading →
This year J-MUSIC Ensemble performs at LCAC again! We loved their performance the last 2 years and they’ll be gracing the main stage again. The live music they provide is one of the best qualities to their performances as well as the renditions anime and game theme songs we’ve grown up on. The nostalgia makes me love seeing J-MUSIC Ensemble perform. J-MUSIC Ensemble hits the stage Sunday, August 19th at 2:30pm, the last music performance right before the closing ceremony. The past two years of LCAC we have seen Reni Reni and this year she comes back to LCAC. Reni’s music is so energizing I can see why she would be a fan favorite because she is one of the only acts I’ve seen that actually go into the audience and interact. The past performances we’ve caught will be below but this post was written by Lizzo for our 2016 press coverage of LCAC and Reni’s performance. Reni is set to perform at LCAC 2018 Sunday, August 19 at 11am, be sure to catch her performance if you’re at LCAC this weekend. I’ll also link a few videos of her music and performances. In 2016 I covered 2une at LCAC and it was such a great performance and we also saw them perform last year. 2une has been together for 3 years now and Sneko and Uno seem to still be going strong even though they haven’t uploaded any new music in a while their songs are still catchy. They were so cute during their performances so this year because they are switching it up by performing with Ari.Ki. The performance is on Friday, August 17 at 1:30pm in the main event area.
