Sup, today I was able to see Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse and it was amazing. Expect a review for that soon but I this got me thinking. There are quite a few movies that I’m looking forward to in 2019. Here is five live-action movie adaptation that I’m looking forward too.
The Rock has yet another action blockbuster under his belt and it’s a movie about characters from one of our favorite childhood video game Rampage. I got the chance to see a advance screening of the movie earlier this week with Alice and have to say it was a short movie but the action picked up quicker than I thought. Although I have some mixed feelings about the movie not giving the other characters from the game more screentime I did enjoy the movie because of the characters and their witty banter with eachother.
With all the excitement surrounding Black Panther which is debuting in theaters this weekend, it feels like we’ve been waiting forever for a black superhero movie. Now that it’s finally happening especially during black history month I don’t know if next year can top it. Black people as a whole have been lighting up social media about Black Panther since his MCU appearance in Captain America: Civil War. Twitter has started a storm and were all here for it, This is the week the hashtag #BlackPantherweek and #BlackPanthersolit is really active and people are out here living their best life waiting for the weekend. A few months back, I published a post titled: Favorite Anime Directors. This list consisted of famed animation directors. As a follow-up, I compiled a list of my Favorite Anime Movies. These films are in no particular order because Top 5 or 10 for anything is too hard to narrow down, I just refuse to do that to myself.
I wanted to start this off by saying if you look at reviews before going to a movie don’t look at Jumanji’s reviews because all their going to do is compare it to the original movie and that’s not fair for this remake. This movie is the reimagined Jumanji as a video game console which is what as gamers we flock to consoles, no one plays board games anymore.
The Girl Who Leapt Through Time is hands down one of my favorite animated movies of all time. So how could I not talk about it.
TGWLTT follows teenage space case Makoto Konno and day to day mishaps. After an accidental fall in the school science lab she finds a walnut shaped item which passes on the ability to Time Leap. (Which she learns after a near death experience) Makoto swiftly takes advantage of her newly found gift but later learns that her choices have repercussions.
Behold a Justice League movie without Green Lantern! I’m disappointing that there is no GL in this movie, Specifically John Stewart is my favorite GL and I’m really curious to know who is actually going to play him in future DC films. I grew up on the Justice League animated series and that’s what I wanted to see. I swear if Hal Jordan is playing the GL in Justice League 2 I’m not watching it I’ll skip a movie. I hate Hal Jordan with a passion and I honestly don’t know the real reason for my hate.
Gal Gadot better known for her role as Giselle in the Fast and Furious franchise has taken on the role for Wonder Woman and i’m actually happy for her i also thought Megan Fox was in the running for this role but i’m liking Gal a lot more.
I know a lot of the people is upset that Wonder Woman is not some white woman with blue and the patriotic dream. In fact i love Gal a Israeli-born actress with beautiful tanned skin and her as wonder woman makes a difference it’s a step towards breaking the “American myth” that comic book superheros can only be white Americans. I’ll be looking forward to all the backlash that will come with this promo.
What i never understood was how some Americans bash a movie because a person of color got the role but still pay money to go watch it. It has happen so many times Ive lost count over the years.
I will see the movie because it’s something different in all honesty you get tired of seeing the same type of people play the same roles and it’s a breathe of fresh air when it just different from the norm.
