This weekend November 17 – 19 is Anime NYC the return of an NYC anime convention after so many years of being “fused” with New York Comic Con. Anime NYC is funded by so many amazing sponsors that we all know because they bring us some of our favorite anime shows and manga, it’s so much anticipation building up for anime NYC that it literally has to give us it’s best A+ game just for the comeback.
Anime NYC has a lot of activities going on and not enough time to enjoy all of it so like every convention I hope you guys get a chance to check out the schedule on the website so you can plan what you want to do early so it’s worth the money and time. Just like any convention, you will gravitate to something that you’ll see on the schedule and probably stay in one spot majority of the day. There are more activities outside of the schedule.
We are working on a lot of posts centered around anime NYC since we’re so excited to see an anime convention come back to New York City. We will spotlight a few of the guests were hoping to see at the convention and some of the premieres happening this weekend are going to be epic.
If you guys are interested in Anime NYC tickets are still on sale for this weekend and if you subscribe to Crunchy Roll you’ll get a $10 discount off your ticket. As of right now, only Friday and Sunday passes are still available either day is still worth checking out Anime NYC.
My favorite female anime character has to be hands down is Sora from “Kaledio Star”. Sora has been a huge insipration in my life. She taught me to believe in myself no matter how hard it gets or who tries to pull you down. This anime is inspirational and Sora will show you no matter what if you believe you can do it, follow your dreams. Sora will inspire you as she has done to me so I believe she deserves the title the best female character ever.
This one was tough. So many characters came to mind. Vash, Yusuke , Hiei and Wufei Chang from Gundam Wing to name a few. I could go on a for hours. There are so many good choices. At this moment, I have to go with Spike Spiegal.
I’m assuming this means an anime that I love even though I’ve yet to finish it. There always SAO but decided to go with Parasyte: The Maxim. Manly because it’s the more recent of the two but also it took a lot less effort to draw my attention during it’s original Adult Swim run.
1) Can Introduce Yourself? And give us the back story on your alias (stage name)?
Cookie: Wassup world , my name is Cookiee Kawaii & I’m from Irvington NJ. My stage name went through some changes throughout the years. I started as Harajuku Cookiee. The Harajuku came from me just loving everything about Japanese culture & fashion. And the Cookiee (with two e’s) was added because I love soft baked cookies lol . its my favorite snack in the world so why not be named after it. As I evolved… I changed from Harajuku Cookiee to Cookiee Kowa. One because I felt there needed to be a change as far as branding for me. The Harajuku brand has been used by many famous artist such as ( Nicki Minaj & Gwen Stefani) so I needed to make a change and pick something more original. Secondly I was briefly on a team (RAW BUNCH) with a notable rapper Tsu Surf. So my name needed to be something that meshed well with his & still stuck true to my love for Japanese culture. So I came up with the name Cookiee Kowa. Kowa … short for cowabunga (in relation to surfing) but I changed the c to a k because kowa in Japanese meant scary or frightening lol … to me since I wasn’t that young artist anymore and I was growing into my own sound .. I wanted people to somewhat be scared of what I could bring to the table. Because I had a lot of people doubting what I could do as an artist. After I left Raw Bunch … I needed to have my own identity … something that was mine and original. Didn’t take me long before I came up with Cookiee Kawaii. Kawaii means cute or adorable in Japanese & that fits my personality.. & it rolls of the tongue for those who can pronounce it right lol & for sure to me its more original & its a name Im proud of.
